LFS sickened me today.

I'm thinking the conversation ceased to have any chance at being productive when the word 'retard' was used...

I'm engaged in a running dialog w/ my local Wal-Mart people re: mishandling/mis-labeling of Violet Gobies, GS Puffers, African Butterfly fish, Bettas & Pacus. I'm trying to keep 'em at least somewhat receptive. Ona positive note, they've started stocking some interesting plants (dwarf hairgrass, Glosso, swords...

There is a place called The Hidden Reef in Levittown, PA. They just relocated to a bigger facility and are still getting their tanks up and running but there is a guy who works there who has been raising ciclids for 30 years. He and his father were the first to bring a number of ciclid species into this country from Africa and their photography is featured in a number of ciclid books. This guy rules.

So there ya go - a wonderful, positive, glowing, educated review of a LFD and one of their employees. :dance2:

Yeah, you can't be an arse to the employees, although he should have shown a bit of concern for the fish.

You never know, maybe he doesn't want to work at a pet shot, maybe he really just wants to be a Lumberjack, YES! A Lumberjack! Leaping from tree to tree as they float down the mighty rivers of British Columbia! The giant Redwood! The Larch! The Fir! The mights Scotts Pine! The smell of fresh cut timber! The crash of mighty trees! With his best girl by his side, he'd sing, sing, sing!

So there you have it, you never thought of it like that did you? =)

I can honestly say, I've never thought of...well, anything...quite like that! :)

Not all of us that work at lfs,s are morons. Some times the customers are morons. They ask for a particular fish, and even I know they don't have a large enough tank for it,and I tell them so they still want the fish anyway.

When I get my LFS up and running all my betas will be kept in small tanks with filters. Any employee that talks back to a customer will be written up or fired.

Would "talking back" to a customer include telling them more than once that, no, you should not take home 5 clown loaches to your new 3 gallon Marineland Eclipse all-in-1 tank? Or would the employee comply with the sale to avoid being written up?

its possible but really hard..... most of your other fishes need more care than bettas so they unfortunently get overlooked... but good luck :]
