Lighting/Glass top

Found them yesterday at a different Home Depot in the lighting section.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread.

Bump......

Hey,
Are you putting the lights directly on the top of the tank or are you putting them a few inches up? I have my lights resting on the glass top. I am going to remove the glass top and mount them higher in my canopy (about 3-4 inches). I think the light will get more evenly dispersed this way.

Can anyone suggest which way would be better?

Low or High? I have read the differences between with glass vs without.

I removed all of the glass and have the light directly on top of the eggcrates. This Friday the lights are going on legs though so I can get into the tank easier...the eggcrates will stay due to possible fish jumping attempts. ;)

I think I have the same setup... just a bit bigger.

I have the 48" - http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=9871&rel=1

It currently rests directly above the glass. So, according to this thread I should remove the glass and get these:

I have a wooden canopy. Will the saltwater do any damage if it splashes, etc? That's probably a stupid question... LOL, oh well.

Btw - Saw this. I've been looking for something similar for a long while... right now I have duct tape (not noticeable as LR covers it :) )

Am I correct with all my assumptions?

Those are the bands that go across the bulb to hold the retaining clips tight.
