I have crushed coral mixed with the gravel, and a thriving population of MTS and spixi's as well as the ramshorns, shrimp, and crayfish in the tank. Calcium for shell growth isn't a problem, judging from the condition of the inverts.

Spixi's will eat snail eggs, including their own.
