I was interested in adding a solo molly to my community tank - already has zebra danios and guppies.

1. Does a molly need company of its own kind?

2. If one is OK, would I be better getting a male or a female or doesn't it matter?

I have a solo male in my community tank of tetras and guppies. He's a male, but his mate didn't last the cycle and/or the Ich; I never bothered to get another...?

He does okay, but I think he likes my female Guppy, but then again, she'll accept any attention! ;)

I should have frys again in about 4-5 days

LOL - You know, I actually Googled this behavior and even though they are different species I came across a few (unverified) articles of Molly-Guppy coupling.

The Mollie is easily 2x the size of the smaller male Guppies and is always chasing them off. So far though, all of the frys are "normal"!

I think it extremely unlikely, but if horses and donkeys can do it...?

Some guys like freaky things...

i had a molly who was a big bully, pushing my guppies around. i got him a partner and he has been fine ever since.

If getting a single one, get a male, Getting a fm that isnt either pregnant or doesn't have stored sperms is almost impossible.

1. No
2. Female

Ok, a female it is. I can deal with fry if necessary, but I definitely don't want any gollies or muppies...
