Hornwort

All, I saw the coolest thing today. I was kind of gazing into my planted shrimp tank, checking on what I could move/tweak, when I saw some bubbles coming from somewhere. I realized that they were coming from the broken stem of some Hornwort. It was the coolest thing as these tiny bubbles just kept flowing out of the stem, constantly, like a miniature air hose. I know plants create/release oxygen, but to see it release in that amount was impressive.

I took some pictures and a little bit of video, but it was hard to get a fast enough iso in macro mode to really freeze the action. I'll post a pic or two if I find one that shows the action.

That's called streaming, and it's different from pearling. It occurs when a plant is damaged, as you have noticed. Just wanted you to put a name with what is happening. :) What MG's picture shows is pearling.

I "plant" mine in the gravel... andit has never uprooted... but it grows like a weed!!
Mine "pearls" all the time:D lol

Cool, thanks for the info Sammie7, I wasn't aware of the term or phenomena of streaming. I'm well aware of pearling, that was one of the "hooks" that pulled me into this obsession.
