I would say it's a neolamprologus tretocephalus...or 5 bar cichlid (common name). It's from Lake Tanganyika, will hit 6 inches, maybe a little more and is an aggressive fish to similar looking fish and all fish when breeding...fins look a little raggy - is he getting beat up/what are your parameters for ammonia/nitrite/nitrate ?

You should see very noticeable green & yellow colouration of the eye and flecks of sparkly blue around the gills if I'm right.
After looking at it, not browsing it quickly I concur with you Coler. I need to look at posts more clearly sometimes....i'm a dork!
