Just thought I'd update this a bit. There have been a few interesting changes over the past 5-6 days!
The original (smaller) Angels - One is Black and the other is White - were originally being hurassed on occassion by the addition of the newly acquired (larger) Angel - he's Silver.
We'll, after about 4 days the Black Angel now has sparring matching back and forth with the Silver Angel. To my untrained eye I would say that they give what they take. There is definate contact but no injury, lost scales, etc. :whew:
Anyways, I have noticed an interesting twist...
Okay first, the Black and White often swim together - Never the Silver.
The White Angel NEVER attcks or acts aggressive - ever. On an extremely rare occasion (1-2x a day) if the Silver Angel, if he can get near enough, he will give chase and scare the White Angle away (no contact that I can observe).
The Black Angel, "appears" to me, to be keeping the Silver away from the White Angel...? If the Silver Angel swims too close the Black Angel will fake a charge and stop the Silver or if needed actually but the Silver Angel with his mouth, scaring him off. More often than not, the Black seems to be placing himself between the White and Silver (or this could just be my imagination, but it really looks that way most of the time).
On one occasion, I even witnessed the Black Angel 'ramming' the Silver Angel hard enough to knock him back and I actually
HEARD the impact!!! It was awesome! Of course the Silver Angel retaliated, but not nearly as aggressive.
From what I can determine -
The Black gets aggressive if the Silver Angel gets too close or seems to get between the Black and the White Angels.
The White shows no aggression and is free to swim anywhere in the tank virtually unhurassed.
The Silver gets aggressive only if the others get too close to him (he has a favorite spot right smack in the middle of the tank! lol), or during feeding when they all get close together.
Thoughts? I thought these behaviors were pretty cool to see develop and though many of you would be interested so I thought I would share them
