over posters

at the end of the day...the ammount of posts a person has, does not always bear reference to their experience or knowledge....its just a number in reality...i post a lot around the forums...but, personaly, i could not care if my post count was reset every day...

Peoples post counts can just get bolstered up easily when browsing forums by leaving a simple reply to a thread like " I agree with that "... to the person leaving the comment, its a legitimate and warranted post...to others, its seen as a waste...

I understand the original question. I myself may be seen as one of these 'Over-posters' , but I encourage anyone to browse through any of my posts...

Certainly I hope that I contributing to this forum and to the hobby. I have the fortunate luxury of being in a job that affords me the time to check this forum on an almost hourly basis, and frankly I have made some very nice conections here.

I think more to your Q, is this Contest between us and MKD (or whatever they all themselves). I too have seen some pretty pathetic posts, but in the end, what does it matter? If someone takes offense to a person doing this that their own personal issue b/c the posts have no impact (zero) on a person's level of knowledge or ability, nor does it affect the forum in anyway (unless we are overloading the servers!?!?).

So in the end, who cares...

i wasnt attacking anyone. if someone has questions or is giving good info, post your little heart out! im just annoyed by people who feel like they have to reply to every post and not add anything to it!

No offense taken; I knew exactly what you were saying (I think;)), but I agree with you. I just feel that a lot of this meaningless posts are a result (or at least a spike in them) are a direct result of this 'competition'. Don't get me wrong I think it's kind of neat, and I definately hope we win, but this type of thing - over posters - was a predictable conclusion.

I just wanted to clarify that there are many like myself (I hope!) that post a lot b/c they like to help. The date nad post count next the name doesn't mean anything.

Likewise, I hope my own post wasn't taken to be towards you! ;)

While I try to avoid "I agree" posts, I do think that they serve a purpose in some cases. Because the information on this hobby is so varied (and sometimes contradictory) it is good for people to see that multiple users hold the same opinion about a subject even if they don't have more information to add.

I've noticed some people will break up there replies into several different posts, What ever. It's quite noticeable were the paragraphs end and start.............:shakehead:

general consensus is viewed as correct and true for the most part, while singular answers often get written off as opinion.

i think it's always good to give your two cents even if it is just 'i agree' (which in my eyes is a valid and useful post).. that's what public forums are all about, right? :)
