You might try using some of the guava and other wood in the streams as driftwood. I found a fair amount on the north side as well as on the Manoa Falls trail area on your side. Any decent stream bed you can hike up will have ample wood if you look(hard, dense is what you want and old/long dead)...

Some LED fixtures can adjust the light, so you might consider those. This way you can dial the light intensity you want.

If you add Excel or the like, you might add a little KNO3/KH2Po4 along with the trace mix. This assumes low fish load and high plant load. Also, you might prune out some of the plants if the tank is overgrown to allow for new growth to come in. Sell the cuttings etc, break off at the rhizome...

I agree 110%, obsession with numbers is often the 1st mistake. I ask the questions first.......then maybe later after everything is doing well, then go back..and see how well the numbers match between different set ups etc. They really do not, they are often all over the place. Poor testing...

The Relative pH meter method seems to work best for many.......... I no longer do that myself other than the dial in something close, then tweak and observe very carefully from there. I know what excellent growth should look like. That comes with experience.............or a lack of any fish:)...

Most MH's tend to be pretty effective, but I used 2 x 175W on a 90 Gal many years ago...there was some hot spotting and some areas that lacked light. A 200 Gal tank likely needs 3 at a min for nice spread of light. I use mostly T5 bulbs due to the evenness/good spread, but the ripples from LED's...
