mineralize as in finish the degradation of naturalized materials before they degrade in your tank.
or something similar to the process outlined by aaron talbot here... http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/forumapc/library/52554-how-mineralized-soil-substrate-aaron-talbot.html
also... keep in...
i would probably mineralize it or age it in tank prior to adding any flora/fauna, but i don't see why not. heck, if rottweiler poo can be used as a substrate, there are a lot more possibilities that should work out great that we never hear about....
maybe the ceiling isn't an option... but if you can attach a couple poles to your stand and hang some light from there, you'll be well on your way. check this out... http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1592178
with that, you can go a little over board with your lights and use...
if those plants are real, then this discussion has a point.
if the plants are fake, the tank has absolutely no need for light what-so-ever... except for your viewing pleasure... and should be off whenever you're not actively viewing the tank... unless you prefer a sea of green to visible fish...
it's not exactly that easy. the colony still has to grow to a sufficient size to handle the load. the surfaces of the first tank that bacteria reside on are not transferred with the media so the colonies have to re-populate still.
to me, "cycled" refers to a state at which the colony is large...
how are you currently fertilizing?
what's your gh/kh?
what's your lighting? got any readings?
dosing carbon? how?
without knowing your levels, equipment and routines, there's no way to suggest doing anything differently about lighting or ferts.
wisteria doing well while shorter plants are not...
i think you just told me;
the 125 has been up for a while
the plants are competing and the aggressive feeders are winning out
you don't have enough coverage for competition for light.
without knowing much more about your tank, this is pointing at poor gas exchange at the surface and co2...
then we'd lose RB in a silly little game of cat and mouse. then all the mods would have to be big old meanies enforcing the rules. we wouldn't want that. i hear one of them has a twitchy ban finger.
 i win the internet. :evil_lol:
had to post a thank you before looking back over some of the memes and giggling myself silly again. really thought this thread would have caught on better.
i'm sure he's well aware there are big feet everywhere.
p.s. the poll results are skewed. with such crucial information being gathered, i think we're going to need a do over.
only the CIA and the KGB know more than the answer to any 3 of those. within 48 hours of obtaining knowledge of the ocular perception capabilities of more than 2 aquatic species, people mysteriously disappear. a phenomenon commonly referred to as "if i tell you, i have to kill you". or so my...
that has nothing to do with nerites. they don't scour entire flat surfaces. they travel in random squiggly lines mouths munching and leaving clean paths on algae ridden surfaces. if you didn't fix your algae problem... or let it mature it's way out of existence... you would still have an algae...
i'm horrible at this game. have no idea what that plant is.
but...
the way those leafs are turning looks awful telling. the cupping/turning looks indicative of a coming storm or humidity that's too high. i'm going to go ahead and say non-aquatic.
just to be on the safe side... until you get a...
