    Cacatuoides back yards

I bought one already as the LFS i get them from would'nt sell me two females at once (they like to keep them paired up). But she's in quarantine so I can go back in a couple of days with a fake moustache on and get a 2nd one, then I can keep them in the q tank until their both ready to move over...

    feeding corys

Even when their bigger they won't eat the pellets whole. they'll just suck/nibble on them. I use Hikari sinking wafers and algea wafers. they love them. plus a fair bit of frozen and live bloodworms, and grilled chicken and veg as treats.

Is this lava rock and ceramic rings? pic inside

All the lava rock that I've seen is a dark brown to balck colour. And that's stuffs more coral coloured, So though I'm not a rock expert I'd say you've got coral in the top pic.

Very wierd. I'm in Clapham. Would've thought we use the same water supply. Maybe it's the pipes. LFS wise. The best one I know in London is Wholesale Tropicals on Benthnel Green Rd. Loads of fish to choose from. The fish are ALL well bread and in excellent contidion, and the advice is always...

    Dodgy Driftwood ???

Bought a piece of Bogwood (that's what it was labelled as) from the store yesterday. So far I've boiled it for an hour, scrubbed it hard under a tap and soaked it overnight. The water in the bucket it was soaking in had virtually no tanins in it this morning. And if you scrape the surface of the...

    Chemistry for Beginners...

Ripples, where in the city are you? In south London my tap water readings are gh 15, kh 11 (using Sera test kits). When I mix it 50/50 with RO I get gh7, kh7 readings. I bought a cheap portable RO uniit of eBay for about £40 which is great for me, but it's real slow so would want something...

    Miscegenating cories

corys do best in species specific groups of 6 or more. Bob'll be fine on his own or in a smaller group. but if you want to get the best out of him. increase the size of the group. he and his new friends'lkl become much more active and you'll really start to enjoy them as they play and forage. in...

    driftwood!

The wood needs to contain tanins (it's the stuff that makes the water turn brown when you first start to soak a piece of driftwood). It's the chemical that stops it from rotting in water.

    fluval 104

you can't have too much filtration, just too strong a current. if the water is churning too much, try to diffuse the force comming out of the outlet pipe by bouncing the outflow of the wall/heater/piece or driftwood etc.

    Catching a Pictus

the best way to catch a catfish is what xave suggested. Stick a pipe/pot/coconut with a hole in it, anything that the catfish'll run into when you stick your hands in the tank, and when he's in, pick the whole thing up and place him, and the recepticle in a bucket of water for transportation.
