I think your GH & KH would be OK for Cardinals. I usually drip acclimate for Cardinals and Neons at least 2 hours. Your loss could be from acclimation or simple bad one from LFS. I'd like to wait & see what is going on the remaining Cardinals before picking up more.

What is GH & KH? How did you acclimate cardinals? Cardinals are very sensitive and preferred soft water. You have to very slowly acclimate the Cardinals. (If your water is hard, you have to make it softer. Otherwise, it is very tough.) OR They could be bad one from LFS.

:iagree: If you are running two canidter filters, it might be pretty big planted tank. If you cleaned up both filters completely before trip, it could be mini cycle. Otherwise there might be at least one dead fish. While doing 50% WC, search for the dead fish.

I confused too. :confused: 3.5" is small. Even BN can be bigger than that. What is your tank size? For most tank, I think 3.5" is not a big fish.
