    New betta

I haven't named him yet. Got him from a US breeder on AB. Saw his picture and just had to have him. (browsing AB is an expensive way to waste time) He's in a planted 5.5g all by himself at the moment. Down the road I might get a snail for him or maybe a trio of otos. Still working on the plants...

    Meet the new parents!

This is the pair that I posted a few weeks back asking for an ID. This is their first spawn for me (they were proven when I bought them) and are being excellent parents. I wanted to try for some wiggler shots but they'd freak out and start moving them whenever I got close. Even when I was doing...

should I get eheim 2217? Confused...

Go test lift a few different canisters next time you're at a pet shop. And then remember 1g of water weights 8 lbs. The smallest canisters will hold probably 2 gallons if not more. The bigger the canister, the more water it holds. ;)

how do you keep fish in the old days, anything changed?

Nice blast from the past but I think you're going to learn that the 10g won't hold those goldfish for a year before an upgrade. Please visit out coldwater section and read up proper tank size in the stickies up top.

I couldn't resist..... Trip to my lfs... Need some id's on fish

More often than not guppies are too interbred for a specific strain. I do see signs of verigated and tuxedo (maybe) though.

should I get eheim 2217? Confused...

I'm going to play devil's advocate here. Do they sell replacement parts on ebay such as impellers, new or rings, filter baskets etc. Ya know, the stuff that will wear out. Is there a customer service number listed? How long have these been on the market and are there any long term...

should I get eheim 2217? Confused...

Here's my 2 cents to add in the mix. I've had just about every type of filter from in tank, HOB, canisters. I currently have an eheim 2217, a mag 350, a hot mag, multiple penn plax cascades and a marineland C-series. eheim pros -widely used and therefor great customer service and replacement...

Bought a great mystery snail, will my fish bug it?

You make briggs sound like big clumsy oafs. :p My briggsies glide around the tank light as a feather and "parachute" off the glass floating like a delicate leaf on a gentle breeze before gliding onto the sand without causing a stir. :p

Bought a great mystery snail, will my fish bug it?

I somewhat doubt the snail CAUGHT the fry. It's very possible the fry was dead and the snail decided to have a bit of a meat feast.
