Over-lighting can kill plants through starvation ie. deficiencies, healthy plants store nutrients and if those stores cannot be replenished, the plants dwindle and algae gains a foothold.

Even though most of those plants dont require high light, at that depth and width. I would recommend a few Metal Halide pendants.

I like LCDs over plasma, I've had to throw away a 42" plasma last year because of burn-in. So I went with a Samsung 42" LED 120hz, amazing quality and so compact. If you cant afford to go with an LED version of an LCD, try to get the biggest screen size possible at 120hz, it makes a difference...
