    20 gallon metal-frame show tank - Should I?

Everything I've ever read and heard says silicone does not stick to slate, but I don't have first hand knowledge.

    Lighting..does anyone know

Yeah, should have said that. 2 separate 36" fixtures is way better and cheaper than 1 72" fixture. If you have to go new, check out Catalina Aquarium.

    20 gallon metal-frame show tank - Should I?

If it's glass bottom, you can probably rip it out and redo it, but if it's slate bottom, silicone won't stick to it.

    20 gallon metal-frame show tank - Should I?

Those things are sealed with tar. If it leaks, before you tear out all the tar, soak it in a tub of hot bath water. Usually the tar will loosen up and reseal itself as it dries.

    Lighting..does anyone know

Did y'all notice it's a 72" fixture? The price is high, but if you can find a 72" fixture for below $200 NEW, then your Google-fu is much stronger than mine, and I have been to the end of the internet. OP: I buy used lights all the time. If it's a good deal, go for it.

    par vs. watts

I think primarily it is just an issue with the descriptions provided on APC. I'm surprised they list those plants as requiring medium to high light....I've grown all of those in very low light without issue. Riccia will just about grow in the dark, so if you've got it submerged with even a...

    Ferts.

Aquariumfertilizer.com is a great place to buy ferts. They have anything and everything, and always ship very quickly, a lot of times same day but never later than the next day.

    Angel-proof plants?

I'm with the others. I've never experienced or heard of angels touching plants. Angels are a planted tank staple.

    Jeffrey's "Big Boy"---120g Planted

Thanks all for the nice comments. Could be C. undulata the way it's wavy. It definitely reminds me of A. undulata, so that would make a lot of sense. 3-4" at the moment top to bottom. The largest may be in the 5" range when fully displayed. They're growing like weeds. Born in Dec/Jan and I...

    Jeffrey's "Big Boy"---120g Planted

I'm in the process of thinning this tank out. I want it to be full of plants, just not so many different kinds of plants. I always knew I was going to do this, but initially I put anything and everything I could think I might want in here. So far I pulled the Aponogeton crispus from the left...

    Crypt Wendtii Green question??

As mentioned, Anubias, Java fern(and all it's varieties), and Bolbitis are all great rock/driftwood plants.

    Cleaning Turface

    I had a cannister filter.

    Cleaning Turface

For me, I poured it into a 5g bucket and rinsed it about 5 times, and then put it in the tank. It was still really cloudy, but after about 5 hours of running the filter, it had cleared up a lot. After 24 hours it was almost completely clear, and then at 48 it WAS completely clear.

    120 gallon planted tank

I, too, have a 120g planted tank with Angels. Currently 13 Angles, but going down to 6 or 7 in September. I think passing on the Apistos is a good idea. In my experience, I like to give GBR pairs a good amount of space, and I think putting an Apisto pair in there would just be too much...

    Help! Ph not high enough

6.5 is definitely too low to keep sulawesi snails. Ramshorns and MTS breed like crazy, so you probably don't notice a few dying off because of low pH, but someone that spent $$ on a snail will definitely notice. OP- 6.5 is a bit low. Crushed Coral will probably work better than the...
