Lighting..does anyone know

That price must be a joke! Well, you don't want actinic blue & PC is becoming passe. Look for T-5 or T-5HO. What size tank? I thought you weren't doing real plants LOL. T-8 shop lights can work too. Tell us more!

i really hope that they misplaced a decimal place when they entered the price...holy cow!
no, not worth it in any way shape or form. a new PC fixture should be below 200. and like said it is becoming old.

i wish i got a t5ho setup. real plants you will be fine with a t5ho, fake plants get the cheapest lights you can get.

Did y'all notice it's a 72" fixture?

The price is high, but if you can find a 72" fixture for below $200 NEW, then your Google-fu is much stronger than mine, and I have been to the end of the internet.

OP: I buy used lights all the time. If it's a good deal, go for it.
nope...didnt see that it was a 72" unit.

Me neither but 2 36" can't be almost $700 & will probably fit a 6ft tank.

OP, if you're just doing fish, check Home Depot, Lowe's etc, they have 6 ft T-8 I think, don't know what k they may have in that size.

Yeah, should have said that. 2 separate 36" fixtures is way better and cheaper than 1 72" fixture.

If you have to go new, check out Catalina Aquarium.

yep... 2-36" fixtures should be around $200, maybe a bit more depending on model. 1-72" fixture... ~$500 +/-.

Lol well im not doing real plants but I really want this tank to light up.

I ended up going today and buying the new t-5HO. I bought two 36".

They came with the actinic blue and 10000k bulbs plus 5 or 6 moonlights on each set.

The tank is 180 gallons and each light ran me about 110.

My lighting system is from SolarMax and apparently the moonlights don't turn off lol??

Either that or i assume they have automatic timers.
