How can I hook up one Fluval 304 to two 20 gallon tanks?

It's been discussed in detail. I found the thread: http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=212364 Read the entire thing if you want to understand all of the problems. CW thought it was possible and the thread heavily discussed all the issues. You can do it if you want, but...

How can I hook up one Fluval 304 to two 20 gallon tanks?

It's not just about clogging, it's about resistance. I edited this in to my previous post, but you have 4 lines, if any one line starts to encounter resistance relative to the other 3 lines, you'll have an overflow problem.

How can I hook up one Fluval 304 to two 20 gallon tanks?

If one intake were to clog, then that tank would no longer drain. However, at the same time, the filter would continue to pump water into that tank....ergo, overflow. There are also other issues like ensuring that that the filter is pumping exactly the same amount of water into each tank as it...

How can I hook up one Fluval 304 to two 20 gallon tanks?

They don't use cannisters. If they filter like that, they use a sump. However, most LFS don't even do that, they use separate sponge filters. Hooking up multiple tanks to one filter is always a bad idea. The largest issue is disease. If one tank gets sick, they both get sick. This is why...

How can I hook up one Fluval 304 to two 20 gallon tanks?

There's actually been some pretty long discussions on it, and the end results it that it is always unsafe. I'll see if I can find some past threads. I know CWO tried to do it with an FX5 a while back.

Setting up CO2 with pH probe, does bubble rate matter?

So are you are using a pH controller? If so, bubble rate doesn't really matter. You don't want it too fast, but you don't have to be too exact with it.

    PEAT, have you used it?

That may work. Normally people use sphagnum peat, but googling "coir peat" I saw some places saying that for gardening applications it's an alternative. I don't know how it would work in an aquarium.

how do you start a plant nursury for profit?

The best place to sell is online, and online is everyone's local area. Study the market. See what plants are selling and for how much, then look up those plants and see what the growing requirements are. There are all different kinds of plants that sell well, but the growing requirements...

how do you start a plant nursury for profit?

"Profit" is a relative term. With only one 55g tank, the best you can hope for pay your expenses plus maybe a few extra dollars. You'll want some decent light, some good co2, and a nutrient rich substrate. After that you'll want to grow some more rare/difficult plants. Those are they only ones...

Guppy Grass, Watersprite, Wisteria, Java Moss.....these will all suck out nutrients.

    Aqua soil

Tom beat me to it. AS does not needto be replaced. After its nutrients are exhausted, it just becomes a substrate like any other. Sure, eventually it starts to break down into sediment, but then it's comparable to MTS. You can grow any plant you want without AS. AS just makes it a little...

Used DW? All DW is "used"...that's kind of the point.

I'm not so sure it's a knockoff...as I've been told, the Sun Sun and the Marineland C-series are the same filter...produced by Sun Sun.

    15-gallon Riparium

This is relevant to my interest. I have a 10g Metaframe that I want to turn into a biotype tank for a pair of Sphaerichthys vaillanti. The top 2" of the tank leak, and rather than reseal it, I've been thinking of turning it into a mini riparium. I'll be interested to hear everything you learn...

can you have too much light?

Well, I'll repeat the old mantra: It's all about balance. The higher the light, the higher the amount of nutrients needed, and the higher the amount of co2 needed. If it's a plant-only tank, you can crank the co2 up as high as you'd like. People have suggested that eventually the co2 will drop...

    walstad book

It's an interesting read. You'll learn a lot. Some stuff will probably be over your head, but some won't. Most of the stuff you'll learn is available on the internet if you know the right questions to ask The Google...granted, a lot of the answer are people repeating stuff from her book, but...

any one run co2 in a canister filter???

I've been running co2 through eheims for years. Never had an issue. Gas builds up sometimes, and then the filter burps, and everything resets back to normal.
