    Breeding: Average fish prices

Not to reduce the hobby/passion of breeding to a solely monetary pursuit but this is something I know I have been curious about and have seen no guides/stickies/threads on. That being said: What do you normally receive for the fish species you trade/sell to LFSs/private buyers? Please be...

    i need sugestions

I'm all in favor of #3 as gourami are one of my favorite fish because of their personalities, coloring, and graceful movements.

    breeding polleni.

Wow... I really want to get a larger tank now... Definatly going to rethink the plan for my 65gal high. Very beautiful fish :) How much do they cost? A bundle I bet since they're so rare in the wild.

    Tank sizes

    Won't a tank of 50" H be hard to clean/decorate?

    New heater, big problems

It's a TopFin HOB 50w heater. Tried the turning it down so the light is off, just have to wait now... Also, good chance I'm getting a job at the LFS :D. Now I can upgrade to a 18g that's the same width and length dimensions as my 10g for cheap! :D

    New heater, big problems

I just got a 50wat heater for my 10gal last night. I put it in and turned it until I felt the knob click and the orange indicator light came on. Three hours later the water is at a nice 75-78 degrees but the light is still on. I decided to give it an over night run just to see if it would turn...

    Symptoms of overstocking?

Mostly it's just that the animals will be much more hostile, cramped, and unhealthy because of it. Think about it this way: I could keep you in a 3'x3' box and keep you alive ad healthy, but you wouldn't be happy.

    20 gallon overstocked?

Not at all. The bristlenose will max out at 5" and the guppies and danios will never surpass 2". You have a good balance, I'd leave it like it is as you are almost guarenteed more guppies in the next few months.

    using carbon for ben. bacteria?

Just make sure there aren't any weird chemicals that come with the spong (soaps, cleaners, perfumes, etc.) and you'll be fine. Filter floss or a guaze type materil would be good alternatives as well.

    Pregnant?

I'll go hunt down some java moss tomorrow or Friday (get to look at some of the smaller LFS in town as I havn't seen any good plants at Petsmart/PetCo :D). I have two hornwort already in the tank with a fake... thing. Just did another 20% change and my nitrites are down to 0ppm. Ammonia...

    Pregnant?

I'm pretty sure my gold crescent platy is pregnant (Yay!) but I'm not 100% sure, just 90% because of the way she's been balooning up. How soon should I expect her to pop? (And as would follow: how soon should I begin to grow brine shrimp/ prepare fry food?) What should I do to prep my...

    Nitrite rise after fishless cycling

Sounds like the added bioload produced more ammonia than you were adding and since the nitrite converting bacterium are slower to develop they couldn't process the spike fast enough to keep the water clear. Good thing you didn't jump to a full load. :) Pics?

That's actually really cool... Could be an interesting way to decorate your front entrance/walk.

    55 Gallon / 10 Gallon plans

Okay. I'll move the zebras to the 50g and get rid of the sword. I was thinking of using the 10g to breed guppies, but then I decided an empty tank would bug me. Maybe I'll buy another 10g for breeding and keep it somewhere other than my bed room. How is the balance / stocking of 50g? Do I...

    Cute pet stories time!

Well, it's tragic, but adorable. My 9 year old cockatiel Archy got scratched/bitten/hurt somehow last Friday. He got stiches and to keep him from pulling them out he now has to wear this:

    55 Gallon / 10 Gallon plans

I'm going to let my 10 gallon finish cycling before I start this for both ease of establishing the 55 gallon and making sure I have my plan and money in order. For now this is hypothetical, but I want to check its feasibility. Please let me know of any problems or conflicts. 55 Gallon...

    recycled water

Depends how old your tank is. Mine is just past the one week mark, so the water's ammonia content has just come off it's peak.

    recycled water

Think about what your water is full of. Ammonia (waste), nitrite, and nitrates. The plants/soil have similar organisms to break down the first two and nitrate is the primary ingredient in fertilizer. Plants <3 fish water.
