    My Artwork Website

Aww, s/he's cute! They really are something, those slimy lizard -like creatures. Every time I see tiger salamanders at the pet store I want to hold one. But I've read it's not good for them, because pathogens from our skin can be absorbed through their own skin. Speaking of misunderstood...

    My Artwork Website

Glad somebody likes those salamanders! I was worried about people not really being drawn to them because those types of animals aren't typically thought of as beautiful. Both the Georgia Blind & Flatwoods salamanders are endangered, and I don't think people realize that such small, out of sight...

    My Artwork Website

I'll have to do that. I am going to put a pic on the front page in an hour or so, I just did another update. I better do that until I have a decent pic of myself. ;) Because I made the images so small, I guess I didn't worry about watermarking them. But I will now, thanx for the good...

    My Artwork Website

I guess since I've been here buzzing on and on about my fish, I forgot to mention I was an artist. I have been drawing since I was 4 or 5, and now finally, I have my own website for selling and showing my artwork. It is mainly wildlife oriented, and alot of the wildlife is native to Florida...

Need Fert Suggestions For 55G Planted

I went to petsmart yesterday and was able to get Flourish, but they didn't have Excel, or Potassium. I'll have to go elsewhere for those. Thanx for the great advice. :p:

Odd post, but... (Please look, it won't take long)

You've got some pretty good suggestions here from other members. I too am an artist of several styles, in fact I just created my own website with wildlife artwork. I still have to add a page for pet portraits. I'm going to be 21 years old on the 24th of this month and haven't found a good job...

Need Fert Suggestions For 55G Planted

Thanks! So I'll get the Seachem Flourish Potassium, I was also thinking about getting the Flourish as that contains the same nutrients I need. Doyou think that those ferts would be safer with my fish? I had no idea urea was poisonous to fish, let alone what it is.

Need Fert Suggestions For 55G Planted

No, I don't add CO2. I guess I'd e a little nervous to because if it's done incorrectly it could kill off my fish. The other reason is I don't have enough room in or outside of the tank to do the DIY method. I guss I'll just have to sit back and be patient. The plants seem to be doing fine...

Need Fert Suggestions For 55G Planted

55 gallon. I mixed some laterite (maybe 16- onces.) in the gravel to help the rooted plants a few months back. The other fert I'm currently using for the water column is MYDOR's Green and Grow, and dosed it at 5 drops for every 10 gallons, which is 25 drops for my tank. I have been doing...

    Wanting Redtailed Shark

It says in their profile that the minimum tank size is 25 gallons. So, I think the extra 30 gallons should help to curve the aggression. Thanx to everyone who posted. ~Angela

Need Fert Suggestions For 55G Planted

Update I woke up this morning, and my horwart seems to have had a few growth spurts within the last few days. The other thing I've noticed is since I lowered the flow rate of my filter the other plants have grown a bit more as well, though not as fast. While I know they are slow growers, I...

Need Fert Suggestions For 55G Planted

Okay, I've done some reading on ferts and trace elements here and on the krib, etc. One thing I read that surprised me, was that Aquasafe binds some of the trace metals, making them unavailable to the plants. I wanted to know what would give me the best results for my plant growth, because...

    Wanting Redtailed Shark

Yeah, I have a decent amount, but I'm still waiting for them to fill up my tank. I'm reading up on what to do about faster growth, though I have mostly slow growers. I'm using Mydor's 'Green and Grow' to fertilize the water column, as I don't have any rooted plants other than the anubias.

    Wanting Redtailed Shark

I've been leaning toward getting a redtail shark for my community tank. I talked to my lfs about the aggression I was worried about, and they said it shouldn't be too much of a problem. As long as I add a hiding place for it, the other fish shouldn't be bothered. They also said that they'd only...

    Luna the Orca

I read about him in the Smithsonian magazine a few months back. It really is a sad situation for both the whale and people. I hope a pod comes along soon that he will join, but so far he only wants to be around people. Only time will tell for this lost soul, I wish him luck. I hope he one day...

Filter Preferences for 55 Gallon Planted

I was looking at those just now. I think I just might switch over to canister for the good of the plants. One thing though, I'm unsure of whether or not I should still get something that filters a higher gallon tank than my own. Or do canisters already do a very good job even if they are...

Twitchy Tiger Barbs and Shimmying Sharks

Where is your stock coming from, are they captive bred or are they wild-caught? If they are wild-caught, the only thing that comes to mind is a possible poison(possibly cyanide) used to catch the fish. Eventhough I'm not really experienced in this, it does sound like they were exposed to...
