    Sounds like you may be a bit restricted in what you can do. Maybe more (low-light) plants to use up the nutrients that the algae is using? Bigger water changes might also help in that respect.

    Question: Does this apply to breather bags? Since the CO 2 would escape from the bag (?) the pH would not be depressed, so the argument is negated (and the fish would be experiencing higher ammonia, lower ammonium)?
