I must say, that banjo catfish is the ugliest fish I have ever seen. Which naturally means it's adorable and I want one haha. I like the silver ones but have no idea what they are (I stick to smaller fish then that haha).

Then, assuming no water conditions or diseases, he's probably just used to it. My fish have mixed reactions of my arrive - some rush up to the side of the tank, some hide, and some just sit there thinking "Wonder what dry land is like?"

Does he generally swim into things (like, more so then the other fish)? Or does he just not give a darn when someone walks by?

Before we can do that can you post the filtration, the current water parms (Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite, ph) as well as if the tank is panted or not. Also, is there floating decor/cover for the gouramis? If not they may be trying to hide using the filter, which I assume is a basic HOB filter...

Well, with such small number they won't really school unless frightened so it doesn't matter but I personally go with one school and one species because it looks better. I'm not sure about the Raphael eating the cories, it really depends on if they fit in its mouth and it can catch them.

Hmmm... 30 Gallon Tall Tank or 30 Gallon Wide Tank? That will pretty much decide what fish best suits your needs. Fish that can go with either would be, say, Neon Dwarf Gouramis or a Pearl Gouramis. The Raphael Catfish will get to be 7 inches long and the rule of fish is that if it fits in...

Hmmz... you could probably do a ram in that tank, but it is a hex... I'd suggest shrimp, maybe a planted invert tank? If fish are a must then maybe some black neon tetras, a gouramis (dwarf, I'd suggest a sparkling gouramis), and 2-3 ottos. Tank should be planted if you want these fish. The...

The Bala Shark will get too large for that tank and they are, from what I know, fairly aggressive fish. They grow to be 1ft or larger and will eat pretty much anything they can catch. I don't know enough about Raphael Catfish to say why it's acting like that but I can tell you it won't outgrow...
