Who says fish arent cuddly pets

Cute. I'd never toss a fish into the water, but I'd probably pet or play with a large enough fish in the water. Sometimes I pop my finger onto my Golden Killies back when she gets too greedy going after algae waffers.

    Snail ID

They look like Neritas. I think I see Olive and Tiger there. Harmless and won't reproduce due to needing saltwater for reproduction.

    225g aquarium stocking

Going to be honest, best to trust ones own judgement on what fish will work together. Just estimate "will this fish fit into a grown angels mouth?" and if you don't know don't get it. That said, I'd just flat out avoid any danios, thinner/smaller tetra, and all smaller fish. Rainbowfish are...

    225g aquarium stocking

Regarding angels, you *can* go with just 1 angel, but they'd probably do better in a group of like 4-6. They will pair up as they age, with 4-6 you'll probably get at least 1 pair and the rest would be strays (which would actually work fairly well for them in that size tank). If you go with...

    225g aquarium stocking

If you move the skirts, rainbows, and tetra into the 225 you may want to like double or triple their school sizes, they get very awesome when in massive schools :D

    225g aquarium stocking

Regarding the small schools, most of them *technically* are within an adult angels "if it fits it's dinner" perspective, but I *think* that the adult sizes for most of them are such that an adult angel can't fit them in it's mouth. Don't quote me on that though, as I've never kept cherry barbs...

Hmm... would it be bad form to invite some folks from a different forum I go on to play mafia here? Just a note, not all of them are adults (minecraft forum) but they're all fairly mature*. *When not drunk or on a sugar high.

    225g aquarium stocking

-promptly designs his own dream tank- Do you mind if I go a little wild here? :perv: Fish: 20-30 rainbowfish -pretty much any species of peaceful rainbowfish will work, but I personally like Neon Rainbows (silver, blue & red) the best. 30-40 small schoolers - Neon Tetra(Black, Blue&Red, Gold)...

"Gems" - Anyone know about these Freshwater fish?

Is this the fish in question? http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=830+836+1074&pcatid=1074

"Gems" - Anyone know about these Freshwater fish?

If you're talking about "Scarlet Gem Badis" (Dario Dario) I suggest you don't keep them unless you have a species-only tank. They are beautiful fish but are VERY shy, to the point that you probably won't ever actually see them in a tank with enough cover. They seem to do best in small groups...

Dealing with algae on a severely neglected tank

Algae-specific I think that Japanese Trapdoor snails would devour that, but since I haven't kept them in literally forever I'm not entirely sure on it. I'm not 100% sure on the algae species, but I know for some kinds you can take it down a notch or two by cutting back the time your lights are...

    135 gallon stocking questions ???

Seems like you can house just about any community fish in this tank... The tetras (neon & red fin) would probably do better in larger schools. I suggest like 20 for the neons and probably a solid 10-12 for the red fins depending on their size and temperament. That would bring total stocking...

    Tank layout.

What fish? If they're just like pleco's they may actually prefer short caves like that, if they're more tall fish than yeah those look a little short. Nice driftwood btw.

    Stocking a 20 Gallon Long

Personally I'm a fan of community tanks, and from what little I know about cichlids they aren't usually community fish. In a 20 long I'd say you could do a pair of GBRs with some smaller tetra and/or a few cories and a gouramis of some sort (a small one mind you). Are you planning for a...

    OOPS! - heaters not working.

Well, just turn le heaters back on. I'm fairly certain that 71*f is within most fish's "We're cool" levels of temperature.

    Advice on moving?

Basically what was said above, but I'd like to add: don't feed the fish for a day or two prior to the move, and for a day after to let them settle down. It will allow their systems to be flushed of waste prior to the trip (reducing ammonia) and give the filters time to recover from the move...
