    Snail Requirements

Just keep their water slightly acidic and give them a good calcium source by throwing in a piece of cuttle bone. Healthy shells and all that.

    how many is to many?

I'll have two 10g tomorrow. I really want a 180g cichlid tank and a 180g tropical community. More than that and I'd be pushing it.

best flake food for general tropical fish

I'm in the same boat with Beeker. My fish seem to love the flakes and baby brine I give them.

    Bad idea...

Would either the ADF's or the betta eat baby brine? The loaches look nice, but too big for a 5g. The 65g may be another story though....

    Common post, thought I'd try....Overstocked?

Any male-female pair of platies is a breeding pair ;p I think 4 weeks is the time from conception to birthing and then a week or two or three of rest between broods. I've read (last comment) that more often is possible, but I think this is mostly due to the large number of platies he is keeping.

    gourami behavour

Your fish are fine, infact my gourami did exactly the same thing. Just give him a few more days and they'll start being more adventurous and socialable. Until then just walk into your room really slowly or sit still for about 10 minutes.

    Bettas......

    That is absolutly gorgeous.

    Bad idea...

So far the plan is 2 ADF's and a mystery snail. And (don't tell my girlfriend) when I get my 65high I'm going to try and put ghost shrimp and some cherry shrimp in because I've heard so many cool things about them. As for my betta, I had to move his vase away from my 10g because he was...

    Bad idea...

My girlfriend says ghost shrimp look like monsters and won't go in my room if I get them, so those are out. And pygmy cories reqire large grous (6+) to be happy and a school of that size would easily overstock the 5g.

    Common post, thought I'd try....Overstocked?

Is there a dark spot (gravid spot) just behind her stomach? If so then she's pregnant -- that spot is the baby eyes.

    Bettas......

They're crowntail bettas, a second variety of betta aside from the lyretail (the kind you see in LFS and walmart all the time). They're very pretty, I hope to see some in the LFS (were I should be worrking at soon :D) in the near future.

    Cool :) Thanks guys.

    Bad idea...

Betta, 1 mystery snail (.5"), and two ADF's too crowded for a 5g? I'd think that'd be pushing it.

    terracing and gravel depth?

What if you burried an air stone/air line in the gravel? Would that help alleviate anerobic bacteria build-up? You could also directly siphon from that area during your weekly change. This method would also favor the larger gravle.

    Dead Swordtail Sick Molly??

Try halving a slice of cucumber and tying it to a rock. Your veggie eating fish (danios, white clouds, barbs, mollies and sword tails) should pick at it and get the fiber they need to keep from being constipated. And maybe you could try feeding flakes at one end of the tank and...

    Bad idea...

So about a 1/2" snail? I already put him back in the vase; I really like my gourami and my female platy is probably pregnant, and he'll be okay for another day or two in the vase.
  17. P

    Bad idea...

Wow.... So, I rearranged my 10gal (pic) and put my betta in, and what a bad idea that turned out to be. He was bullying the gourami and both platies within five minutes and the danios wouldn't even come to the front of the tank. Movie. He can wait in his vase for the 5g now. As for the 5g...

    Bettas......

Would it be inhumane to transfer my betta into my 10g for a few days while I look for/setup a 5g for him? I mean, it'll be rather crowded...

    Tank Size!!!

10gal specs in sig and I'm buying a 5g hex today for my male betta who's living in a vase right now.

    The Severed Finger Lady

Why the hell would she have it then? "Dearie me that must have hurt. Did you slice it clean off? Wow. Here, I'll take that home, clean it up, and have it back to you, clean as a whistle, before Sunday. You can show it to the pastor, he'll be right impressed by that."
