I would do a 50% water change. DON'T wash the filter media or decorations! I would also gravel vac. Don't give up. And BE PATIENT. It takes a couple of months sometimes to complete a cycle.

Your tank is certainly still cycling. LEAVE IT ALONE.....UNLESS AMMONIA GETS TO .25, THEN DO A 50% WATER CHANGE. I know it's hard to not mess with it....but STOP!

Just drop them in the tank. They could take MONTHS to sprout, if they even sprout at all. We've only had one out of four to grow. Patience is a virtue!

Overstocking, lack of temp. control, lack of water changes, lack of gravel vac-ing, adding too many meds and treatments, no quarantine, .....................did I miss anything? Stop ALL of those things, and you might just save your fish.

EXACTLY....... they don't school because they are not frightened. Do you really want them to be frightened all the time? REMEMBER....stress can weaken their immune system, and make them more prone to disease and untimely death. We can't make all God's creatures perform for us all the time...

ANYWAY......they do it when they are frightened......or to avoid being eaten. If they are comfortable in your home aquarium, don't expect them to do it much. REMEMBER.....We can't really expect fish to act as if they are in the wild....when they're in a glass box in our living room. lol

How long has your tank been set up? Do you have a Python or other kind of gravel siphon? That is the best way to do gravel vacs and water changes. It sucks up the muck and poop outa the gravel, and siphons out water at the same time. We do our 29g twice a month. Good luck!

I would float a piece of filter media in the old tank for a few days, then squeaze and swish it around in the new tank.....worked for me! Or use filter media that has been in operation in the old tank.

A siphon will suck out water and debris without removing your gravel. The gravel will suck up a little way into the tube, enough to dislodge the poop and uneaten food. It is VERY important to do this weekly or every other week. You can accomplish water changes and getting rid of poop at the same...
