Setting up a natural Amazon themed Aquarium - Article

lol Live a little. If you have nothing of value to add then we can just hurl slander at each other? What a lovely place this is. Brilliant. :) Always look on the bright side of life. I find it better than hanging people on crosses.

Setting up a natural Amazon themed Aquarium - Article

Bare in mind that my guide is a basic guide, and does not take into account every little element and variable. It is also a guide created from over 20 years experience in replicating a natural environment for Amazon fish. Of coarse there is risk of contamination from absolutely anything you...

DIY simple Co2 for planted aquarium

Yeh well I guess the basic idea is to get really tiny bubbles, and have them stay under the water until they fully dissolve. I think people stay away from airstones because the Co2 quickly destroys an airstone. You really need to use special plastic pipe for it also otherwise it will dissolve...

Yeh that tank is getting quite full now. Another Bolivian would be plenty enough. Just remember to keep on top of your weekly water changes otherwise with such a heavily stocked tank there could be problems with disease out-breaks if the water isn't kept clean. If you have 2 male Bolivians...

Oh cool, yeh I just found out about the SA Puffers. Could be interesting, but I am really not a fan. Plus the teeth problem, sounds like their specialist diet would be something difficult to cope with. Spacefish: Of coarse it can be risky to use wild things in your aquarium, but if you know the...

    Rams..my Favorite dwarf SA species

Perhaps try removing the spawning fish to a small breeding tank, and once the fish spawn remove the parents back to their normal quarters. Then you can raise the fry yourself with no way of them "disappearing". Just put an air stone near the eggs to keep fanning them and they should be right...

Sorry, just have to say, that there is no such thing as a German Blue Ram. They are from the Amazon, Blue Rams, and for some reason when they were first brought to Europe, they came through Germany first, and somehow got stuck with this name German Blue Ram. Strange bit of trivia, but there you...

Cheers Brandon. I hope you plan on getting some Discus with that 75G. Talk about stunning. That setup of mine has been going for about 3 years. I have many old photos of it in different stages. As the plants grow, the aquascape constantly changes as I have to make more room for the growing...

DIY simple Co2 for planted aquarium

I usually use the same method as fshfanatic and have my hose going into my filter's power head, which conveniently has a small hole just for a pipe to go into. This has worked well. I have tried other methods but this is by far the easiest and it works better than most also. I like the sound of...

What ever you do be sure to introduce the fish to the aquarium slowly, probably one species at a time. This way you will be able to see how much room you have as the community grows.

    Too much sun?

Perhaps he's just camoflaging like a camelion. lol The sun bouncing of his scales will obviously give the illusion of the color of the light pouring in the window. Agreed. Get the guy a swimming pool.

After my previous huge thread on algae, The Algae Is BACK!!! :(

Excess nutrients - meaning nutrients left over that the plants can not utilise, either because of too much OR not enough light, or not enough Co2. The balance is with Light, Nutrients & Co2. Also, if you light globes are over 6 months old, then they need replacing. After 6 months flurescent...

    surface bugs

Springtails? lol That's some wierd stuff right there. I haven't seen those critters before. Do the fish eat them do u think? They look really thirsty what ever they are.

    Corydoras Breeding Question

Yeh I doubt they would cross unless they were very closely related in their genetics, and even then it could turn out looking messy. I wouldn't try to make them do it, poor things. :)

AC member help me track down a fish? "project Ninja"

Very nice Betta you have. How old is this fish do you know? I am having trouble deciding weather it is a young male or female. Where did you score this guy? He is a vary rare unique strain you don't see often.

    Female betta tankmates?

Yes a small heater is advisable. Also, female Bettas are definately NOT going to even look at your Bristlenose, lol. They would love to eat baby shrimp, but seriously those girls won't bother anyone. Even a male wouldn't bother pestering any type of catfish. That's been my experience anyway...
