JD still spitting out and reeating food

How old is he? Has he ever done this before? He may just not be able to chew it very well. I have more than one cichlid that does the same with large foods, they do just fine :)

F/S or trade complete wet/dry system ($125 firm) SE MI/USA

Sorry, I don't think I'll need it :( even though I'd love one, I just got 2 Magnum HOT Canister Filter Pro System (with Bio Wheel) for free ($100 each off the shelf). These will work all to perfectly with my 50 Gallon. I will post if I need it for my other 50 though, but at the moment, that's a...

pleez help my parrot isnt breething out of one gill

Yes, space may be the issue, but not directly. Make sure your filters can handle the oscar (VERY messy -high ammonia-) as well as that many blood parrots. There's nothing wrong with setting up a small tank for 1 or two of them.

so upset, do I have to start all over?

Remove the wigglers/fry ASAP!!! They will go through lots of stress w/ all the medication, water changes, and bacteria. Left in there, they have a near sure chance of death, I would say. I personally think its best to always remove them ASAP, regardless of conditions. 10 gal. should do it. Cover...

    Feeding Ram Fry

1 More thing! Liquid Fry Food is a Great, Easy Alternative that I just remembered. You don't even need to buy it, this website (http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/fry_food.php) will give you instructions on how to make it at home. It seems like a hassle, but once made it will last...

    Feeding Ram Fry

I hear ya. Especially with the 2 dogs. New dogs can be a workload. Good luck with the eggs, hope they work. Also, do your Rams breed regularly? I have yet to breed any of my cichlids.

    46g bowfront

Well, I have to say that you may be right about the aquaclear being better than the H.O.T. Magnum, if it weren't for the optional Bio-wheel. Though not currently being used, I have 2 of these. You don't need to worry about bacteria at all with the bio-wheel. That's one of the reasons that the...

    Algae Eaters & Cichlids

Also, don't forget to grab a Magnet-Scrubber. Those things have saved me an unbeleivable amount of time, just don't let your fingers get cought on them before you put 'em in the tank. As for plecos creating more algae, I disagree. I've always kept at least one pleco in my oscar-only tanks...

    Feeding Ram Fry

Heh, I've always wondered about this. Setting up cultures can be a hassle and I've always thought that feeding the eggs may be simpler. I do not know if unhatched, hey have the same/enough nutritional values for your Rams. There are very small (think 4 in. by 5 in.) hatcheries where less...

    Big Filters!!!

Thanks you guys, now all I need to do is order 2 more impeller assemblies. Apparently, iron is used in the magnet and when a little water penetrates the seal, it can burst from rust. But hey, $30 or $200, right :)

    Big Filters!!!

I recently picked up a 50 gal. tank, as well as 2 "hanging" filters with Bio-wheels. And by picked up, I mean someone left it outside their house for passers-by to take. The filters seem to be heavy duty, and they work, but I don't know what type of filters they are, if the are SW or FW, or...

    Algae Eaters & Cichlids

:) Sorry about that :) Plecos are excellent with Oscars, I think they do the best job with oscars of any cleaner. I am surprised, however, that it gets along with the African Cichlids. Great job if you've gotten them to get along! You are among the few:)

    Pregnant Cichlid

Thanks so much :) her stomach seems to have gotten smaller. As for food, I am alternating between 2 pellet foods and a more $$$ frozen food that my LFS said is "the best" I will check to make sure there is not too much protein in their diets. Thanks again!
