    Losing all my corys

I'm fairly busy right now and have to go out. When I come back I'll answer your questions. But when this first happened I did think of HITH - just none of the pictures I found looked anything like this.

    Losing all my corys

It is the recommended dose: I only did it for a week but since it wasn't making any difference, I reverted to the usual 5ml/50gal. Temp is usually 26degC as stated in previous post. But I had it higher until recently to try and help the healing process.

    Losing all my corys

So you think this could be HITH? Tank params are NO3: 10ppm, NO2: 0ppm, NH3: 0ppm, pH: 7.2, temp: 26degC I usually do 15-20% water changes a week, but since this happening I've been doing 50-60% every other day and also tried doing double-strength doses of melafix every day as well. But it's...

    Losing all my corys

I just found two threads here describing something similar, but neither have an an answer: http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showpost.php?p=904006&postcount=2 http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102937 So any ideas?

    Losing all my corys

There's a problem in my tank which is killing all my corys, and after months of searching here and there I can't work what is wrong. Up to a couple of months ago I had 7 corys in the 39g community tank - 4 peppered and 3 bronze. They've been happy and healthy for the couple of years, mating all...

    Hemorrhagic septicemia?

Not sure if that's a question Lupin. But I'll explain what has been happening as best I can. When I purchased the cory's, this female had a red streak (fairly small) on it's side. I thought it was bruising from being caught badly. And I thought if the red was there tomorrow I'd return her. But...

    Hemorrhagic septicemia?

Last night - exactly 3 days after first treatment - I checked water parameters. No ammonia or nitrite but nitrate had snuck up to 20 ppm. Did a 50% water change. The directions say in severe infestation the dose can be doubled. I took middle ground and added 1.5x the normal dose. No snails or...

    Hemorrhagic septicemia?

So this is strange then. Every post I've found on the net about HS, either the fish died in days or got better with treatment. I've had the cory's for months now. Only the one female has shown these symptoms. And it has come and gone the whole time. I never did anything till now because I...

    Hemorrhagic septicemia?

Any idea how long it should take for the disease to clear up? I just realized the Tri-Sulfa tablets we get here in Australia have different ingredients to the ones I've seen on US websites. The directions say to treat once and repeat in 3 days if necessary. I did the first dose over 48 hours ago...

    Cories are laying eggs again!

So ones that turn white are unfertilized? My female peppered laid eggs a few weeks ago. I thought they were infertile because there wasn't much color change. One morning a few days later, every time I turned around I noticed more eggs missing and thought she was eating them (I had seen her...

    A good article on corydoras..

Do you have the original link? I'd like to read this in it's original form thanks. Very good article. Did I miss the link to original? Acknowledging the source is important, IMO.

    Hemorrhagic septicemia?

Ok great. I have ramshorns and MTS as well. Luckily Trisulfa is what the lfs is getting in.

    Hemorrhagic septicemia?

Or maybe she's a carrier with a very strong immune system and won't let the HS beat her. As usual the redness disappeared within 24 hours. She even spawned a few weeks ago. I'm waiting for the lfs to get some meds in as they only had this multi-cure stuff I'm not sure about. In the meantime...

    Hemorrhagic septicemia?

Ok thanks for your help mate. There is a lot about VHS on the net and I've seen it mentioned at other aquaria forums but I don't know if it actually occurs in tanks. Just thought I'd ask because I think this cory has brought HS to my tank. No other fish has these symptoms yet. And I don't see...

    Hemorrhagic septicemia?

Thanks Lupin. But can I ask if you know that from experience? I just checked over at applesnail.net, and some people have tested tetracycline and found it is safe with apple snails but not much else is (though they don't say what isn't). So which would be safer - tetracycline or the sulfa meds...

    Hemorrhagic septicemia?

Tank is 37 gal. Houses the cory's, couple of bristlenose, 2 dwarf gouramis and a few apple snails. Low-tech planted and plants growing great. Just a question about the triple sulfa. I've been told it won't hurt plants and snails when used correctly, while others have said it's hit and miss...

    Hemorrhagic septicemia?

Ok. Should I try triple sulfa or what else would work? I think my tank maintenance schedule is fine.

    Hemorrhagic septicemia?

Hello everyone. A friend told me about this forum when I explained a problem with my corys. I have 4 peppered corys, with one being a female and she's the one showing these symptoms. She often has these red streaks along her side, as well as around the barbels and under the head. It looks like...
