How and what do i need to turn my 10gallon into a planted freshwater ?

!!!Thanks For Help!!!

What kind of lighting do you have over the tank now? The kind and amount of light you have on the tank will determine alot on what kind of plants you can have better luck with.

What kind of substrate (gravel, sand or other) ?

Also what fish are currently in the tank?

Some of these questions wont make a difference as far as planting the tank...it is just nice to know about what people have so suggestions can be made if they do happen to effect what you want.

well bubble you have alot of options. lighting is very important for a planted tank.
one idea:
i have had great success growing all sorts of plants (madagascar lace to swords to anubias to java fern etc.) with a simple incandescent hood.
you can buy it at petsmart. print out the price of the aforementioned hood on their website. pick up the hood and present the printout to the cashier; she will call the manager and they will change the price to the one printed on the sheet- it saves like 20 dollars.
next, go to home depot and buy 2 compact fluorescent light bulbs in the 13 watt range. look on the packaging though for what wavelength they are at- you want the ones at 5500k.
put that hood on your tank. you can now grow many plants like anubias, java fern, amazon swords, wisteria, and a few others.
buy some liquid ferts like seachem flourish and excel. add them to your tank as presscribed on the bottles.

with that recipe, you will ahve a very nice tank in short order. this website gives you the simple no flowery speech basics on how to do it. it is all correct too!

Great, I think most of those plants aren't very demanding. I'm assuming that stock hood is a dual incandescent hood. At the very minimum, you'll need 2 compact fluorescent bulbs (make sure they're daylight or you'll get yellow lighting) and gravel (fine gravel preferred). If you want to go a little nicer, upgrade the light fixture. ~40 watts should suffice your needs. 80-100 watts will grow anything. You can also upgrade your substrate if you want. Cheapest choice being Soilmaster Select. From there you can get Eco-Complete or Flourite. CO2 injection may also be added if you want. A DIY system will cost you 10 bucks or less. DIY systems are just as good as a lot of store bought ones. Pressurized CO2 can also be done but will cost you a decent amount of cash. Fertilizers is another option you can consider.

Personally, I'd just buy two compact fluorescent bulbs and some fine gravel. If things don't look good, think about upgrading your lights or adding CO2/ferts.

Also, I don't know how big most of those fish are, but I think you're overstocking your tank a bit. I think corys and CAEs get big.

-4 Julii Cory's
-5 Neons
-2 CAE
-2 Zebra Danio

No CAE's. They can reach 12" and become agressive. No zebra danios, you would need at least 6, and they are too active for a 10g.

This is what I would do:

8 neons
4 cories

True julii's are pretty expensive, and get a little big. I would go with panda, pygmy, dwarf, or black diamond cories.

Nice EK.

I have a DA INtegra :)

Oh and

Everything looks good. Except the CAE. They are a bad idea. trust me.

Oh and the Corydora.. try to get some pygmy or some juili.. anything but the "emerald green cory"

hmm...is the light a fluorescent or incandescent? Ditto previous recommendations on installing 2 compact fluorescent screw-in bulbs in an incandescent hood...

anyway...with a 15W warm white undercounter lamp over a 10G (after the hood died) I've had reasonable success with java moss, water wisteria and hornwort. I also have red crypts in the tank, they grow slow, but are OK.

Amazon swords will do OK, but can outgrow the tank eventually. I would skip those for now.

Java fern anchored to a rock looks great and will do reasonably well in low light too.

Anubias will live, I've found them to be fussy and slow, but durable.

Fish-wise....I'd suggest 3-4 of the medium to smaller corys, like the pygmys, skunk (C.arcuatus), juliis, etc, not paleatus. Skip the neons, quality tends to be poor. Skip the CAE's, can be aggressive over time.

Several small danios would be OK, but they really prefer a large tank to swim in. How about 6 platys, guppies, a dozen endlers, or 4-5 swordtails?

I would do maybe 3 cories and go with a schooling fish other than neons. Serpaes? Tiger barbs? Rummy nose? Emperor Tetras? Or maybe sword tails.
