100lbs of sand enough for mbunas?

Call me crazy, but I have a method I found to work for me, and its much faster than the bucket method. (at least it was for me, individual results may vary depending on how many helping hands you have) I held a pillow case with maybe 10-15 lbs of sand in it at a time, and had my gf spraying a hose into the sand and stirring it with her hands. This helped to rinse out most of the tiny particles which would otherwise be floating in the water and make it look hazy. Once I got the sand in the tank and I filled it up, I then covered some filter pads for my emperor 400 in pantyhose and let that run as it was for 24 hours. Crystal clear and no problems since. :-)

i won't be filling up the tank as a bare tank, the tank i'm buying has gravel in it already, so i will be taking that out and putting the sand in. all of your methods sound great, but probably i'll to the bucket method. seems easier from my POV. thanks everyone for all of your help!

Dude play sand is fine I've always used that stuff after I throughly rinsed it though.
I didnt use nearly that much not really necessary if they have enough caves to hide in.

well it's not just that i don't have enough caves for them, but i like the look of sand too.

I put some play sand in my tank, I kept it below the trim 1/2" deep max. talk about left overs. didnt even rinse it, the sand was super clean compared to flourite and gravel.

and your water never got dirty from not rinsing?

Thank you I always suggest rinsing the sand just incase and make sure its play ground sand, sometimes places like home depot have foundation sand which has been treated and is NOT good to put in your tank. Also make sure your tank stand can support that much weight, good luck.

is that like a slice of mellon in the pic? its kind of blurred so i can't really tell what it is.
