so I have 2 female bettas and a dwarf gourami in a 10g who all are very friendly to each other. My other dwarf died the other day and I was wondering about a third f. betta. Could this work? It just seems very bare right now.

bumpsy dasies

I would add two more,if you dump one in she will more than likely be harrassed, but two and the agression will spread out.

But will that be too much for a 10g? BTW one of them is young and fairly small.

I think you would be fine, you could get two more female bettas or a school of neons or other small tetras.

hmmm, I wonder how she'd react to some neons...It's a fairly natural looking tank amd I think neons look great in those kind of environments. I'll try with my 2 survivors first. Thanks everyone!

The tank size is fine. I only exercise caution with female bettas. One can be surprised at how aggressive they can be.

I have seen them flare at each other and even go at each other like male bettas would. In fact my local PetsMart now keeps them in the little cups like the male bettas - they learned the hard way about keeping them in a tank together and lost some money due to several deaths.

so neons are out. She hates small schooling fish I think. I'll try the betta thing out and hope that I get some other peaceful fish. Fingers crossed. I'll get a back-up tank first incase they don't work, cause I could never send them back to those tiny bowls of hell.
