no, its not that bad. your LFS should have it.
discus people swear by it. its great for helping to bring out yellows, reds, and oranges.
eg. I feed it to my saltwater mono's to help keep up the nice yellow in their fins.

okay, I know this isn't a great shot, but continuing in the tradition, its time for a one month (actually 5 weeks) growth comparison
up close daytime shots.
the red always seems much brighter during the day, probably because the ambient light passes through the fins. they don't look this good at night lol

That tank looks great. I love the action barbs bring to a tank!
At night time my fish loose their color also. I think they actually do change colors a little at night, just to blend in better while they are sleeping.
I had one goby who was neon yellow during the day, and then almost translucent white at night.
My freshwater fish don't seem to change as dramatically, but they also fade out at night.
