12 Volt Man's New Fishroom Thread

its actually not that high - they are standard flourescents so its 4x30W =only 120W.

the inside of these fixtures is all polished aluminum- thats what makes a big difference in the brightness.

cheaper fixtures like the Perfecto ones have just white plastic inside and you don't gain any reflectivity from this.

the AGA strips are really good in this regard.

I chose not to go T-5 or Power compacts with this tank since it is going to be non planted.

I LOVE the look of this type of lighting, but my other tanks from my old fishroom had T5 lighting, and the non planted tanks were a constant battle with algae.

I didn't want to go that route again so I did not choose T5 lighting for this one, even though you can get coralife T5 lighting that is very cost effetive, I would have probably needed 4-36" strips which I think would have been a constant battle with algae.

the T5's are very bright..

the 65 gallon saltwater waiting to be set up again, and what it looks like set up ( the fish are in a 30 gallon tank right now at my parents place - they probably hate me for moving them into such a small tank for now, but I had to sand and repaint their tank stand..)

fish to go back in soon, I will post pics of this soon..
