12 Volt Man's New Fishroom Thread

actually, the LFS is going to deliver it with two guys. it wasn't much at all to get them to deliver it (only $60 CAN) and then I don't have to worry about it.

they can put the beast right on the stand..

it looks like the glass might be 5/8ths inch thick.. it was thicker than the marineland 150g tank that I think had 1/2 inch glass..its going to be very heavy..

I don't think two guys can even move the tank apart from lifting it. Mine is also 150gallons 60"Lx24"Wx30"H with 8mm thin glass and it tooks 4 guys to move the tank around. And i got muscle aches all over my body the next day cause after i put it on the stand i've to test the leaks by fillng the water and filling 150 with buckets is not an easy chore.

Why didn't you use a hose ?

Why didn't you use a hose ?

I was trying to make a tap over the the tank at that time and the tank arrive earlier than i expected and pumbling was not done yet. So i've no choice as the nearest tap to connect to the hose is like 60 feets away and i don't have such a long one. Now it's fine. I can drain the water easily cause there's a drain just oustide the window near my tank and fill easily with turning on the tap over the tank. As easy as peeling a banana. I try to make things as simple as possible so i can enjoy fish keeping with little effort.

You're planning on 150-200lbs of gravel??? If you're not going planted, that's totally unnecessary and will make for a lot more work IMO and IME. When I set up my 150 oscar tank, I started out with 80lbs because thats all they had in the color I wanted, and I figured Id would add more later. It turned out to be enough, but with messy fish even that was a pain to vacuum. When I switched gravel, I backed off to 60lbs and it gives a nice 3/4" layer of gravel, but doesn't trap nearly as much detritus so it is far easier to clean now.

This is looking great, can't wait to see the updates!

Good call hiring people to deal with moving your tank. I can't imagine 150g because just yesterday I had to move a 75 gallon by myself, talk about an awkward reach to pick up! A furniture dolly is incredibly helpful for smaller but heavy tanks.
