You probably won't be able to use that fireplace very much since the heat is in direct path to the tank and will raise the temp quickly.

150 gallons of water takes a lot of energy to heat, and it would be radiant heat you're speaking of and glass reflects that well.

Actually glass heats up rather quickly and holds heat well. From experience your assumption that it reflects heat is incorrect.

first additions:

4 redhooks (these were nice so I grabbed a few)

and

4 very small yellowfin barbs. hard to come by in my area so I grabbed 4 while I could.

Will likely NOT keep all 4 long term since they will get 18" long, but will probably select the nicest two and keep them. but all 4 can probably stay in the tank for a year or so...they are so small I really can't tell which ones (if any) will have nice orange fins or not....
