I am debating about giving the 'nippy' clowns one more try. I didn't get rid of them yet, they have been living in my quarantine tank, and doing well.
clowns should not be a problem with these fish in this size of a tank, but these apparently were...I might give it one more go and see if they settle down..

did they have a bunch of hiding spots in the bottom of the tank? Maybe they were just feeling insecure? Maybe add a few more of those pipe/pot things you have when you reintroduce the loaches. It might give them more spots to chill and maybe they would not be as interested in your other fish.
yeah, I could do that. I have a few of those ceramic pipe things..maybe I will put them in tonight.
