14g Betta community tank

Id go a grey alien!
Rosetails have some pretty bad luck with their fins and often have so many issues. An alien would be much healthier longterm.

But kois are great too

I can put the rosetail into a 5.5 gallon and the mystery koi betta into my 40 gallon. The grey alien would look great in the 14 gallon.

How come? Is it cause of the bettas or the tank?

Your tank is nice but a work in progress. My wow was for the bettas, I especially like the alien!

The plants will grow and fill out as time goes on. May add a few more clippings onf plants from my 40. Those stem plants grow so fast I have trouble keeping them trimmed. I only started with 3 bunches of them. I’ll add some on my next water change.

i am picky on which bettas I want. But these guys caught myattention quickly. The alien will be a new type of betta I will own. If he does well, I may get more in the future.

My bettas came in. They were very cold when I got them. 2 are doing well in their tanks, just hiding a bit but are eating. My new Alien betta is not doing well. He seems to be in shock due to the very cold water and could have swim bladder issues. He goes to the surface to get a gulp and immediately sinks back to the bottom. He isn’t bloated or anything, he’s moving around a bit more but stays on the bottom.

Sadly my alien betta didn’t survive. Woke up this morning to him dead. He was a pretty fish, it’s just a shame to see him go.
