14g BioCube Oceanic

I was trying to figure out the best placement for this koralia 2 to get the best.. algae blowingness out of it.. any suggestions?? I don't want to counter act the outflow of the filter right? but it shouldn't blow INTO the intake right? so.. ideas? =) I mean.. I have read the "keep adjusting it til you get the desired waves" but I dunno what those are SSOOOooo.. ya help please =)

You can create a cross stream with your filter outflow, so they would meet at a point and create an X.

like filter flows this way powerhead flows this way from the other corner. The top of the V being the direction the water is going.

I have a question for you now! What temperature does your biocube run at? I really want one of these but I'm terrified of having to use a chiller(too freaking expensive). I'm asking a couple of people this before I take the plunge and order.

Collarcrazy i have the same tank and keep the lights on 12 hours a day and have to use a heater 90% of the time. if you upgrade lighting your looking at trouble though. My suggestion would however be the red sea max.

Thanks, I'm not going to upgrade because I don't want the extra carrying costs of it. I'll check into the Red Sea system as well.

I have a fully auto set submersible heater in the back part and it keeps it at 79 degrees.. give or take 1 but I don't know if mine actually counts as I also have it set up in a very chilly basement but with the actinics on from 7am-10pm and the day lights on 10am-7pm and moon lights all the time, I have never noticed a fluctuation in the temps

So this would be the corner that the intake is in.. should I have something blowing water AWAY from the intake? I don't know if it would matter.. just thought about it while I was reading this

I wouldn't worry too much about it honestly, I'd just put it somewhere between the intake and any other pumps or outflows you have. There's no perfect way to set up circulation, as long as you don't see crap accumulating in one spot of the tank then it's fine.

It won't hurt to put it near the intake. Just stick it up somewhere and see if you find any dirty spots in the tank after a few days. If so, adjust the jet or move the pump.

ah.. so essentially I should just stop worrying so much? heh but it's something I'm good at! =D and I'm getting some more new corals about wed and the pump should be here by then.. so hopefully things should be going smoothly by then.. I just wish I had the algae "figured out" now today it looks pretty good.. but yesterday.. bright green all over.. I am also going to invest in one of these turkey basters.. cuz I can't, for the life of me, siphon anything off my rocks.. you guys must use a vaccuum or something.. lol

you may want to hold off on the corals. if you cant get the algea under control just yet. it is still fairly recent set up correct? the algea can and will smother the corals if you cant get it under control.
