14g BioCube Oceanic

It looks like this

I had actually ran across that the other day, but all t he pictures I found didn't quite look like this one.. but maybe I'm just being hopeful.. as it's kind nice having something alive growing from my live rock.. I just need to get a fan worm or something haha

definatly not a coral. Could be a feather duster but from that picture im not 100% sure its not an aptasia, thats really what its looking though like sorry. I might try and blow some water on it with a tirkey baster and see what it does. if it retracts into a tube then most likely a feather duster. if it just kinda shrinks down to a blob or into the rock then bad news but the good news is that is a small one and a pep shrimp may eat that one or some baraghinga nudi branches.

Well.. it sucks itself up so much so that I lose it on the rock.. I dunno if it's going IN the rock or just in the detrio-whatever it's called but it certainly becomes invisible.. I actually think I have something similar to that on another rock.. it's like creeping out of a little crevice and it's tentacles are touching one of the new zoas that I have.. but the zoa doesn't seem to be bothered by it.. I am planning to invest in a cpl of peppermint shrimp.. I was thinking 3.. is that too many for a 14gal?

Which leads me into my next question.. I am wanting to get a clean up crew for this tank.. a better one than what I have now.. atm I have a mexican turbo snail, a margarita snail, and a Astraea turbo snail, I also have 7 hermit crabs.. TINY little guys.. oh and some big snail with a long tube hangin out it's forhead that slid into the sand and hasn't been seen since.. I was wanting to add a few more "nassarius" snails I think they were called, a cpl cerith snails, 2 green lettuce nudibranches, and 3 peppermint shrimp.. this "list" comes from a "BYO Clean up crew" off liveaquaria.com and if you spend $60 the shipping is free.. which otherwise is $35 so it only makes sense to me.. and I could get rid of the "extras" if needbe.. but how much overkill do you think this is??

right now I have a terrible algae problem.. I have some phosban coming and I am only using culligan ro water now for WC and will be investing in a ro/di system asap, so hopefully I just need all these guys to do a major clean up then I can clear some out.. but I do like inverts more than fish anyway =P

Also, this tank I am really wanting to have lots of corals in.. so are any of these inverts going to be reef UNfriendly?

Speaking of fish, I have a blue damsel and a strawberry dottyback in there.. will these hurt the shrimp? or the slug thingy?

nassuri snails are good for the sand bed when you feed the little guys will come out. I would stay away from nudi's and just remeber if all your rock is covered in corals and hopefully one day it will be then your snails will constantly be clammering over it in search of food. Also while you zoas may not be nothered at the moment by whatever is growing on that rock which after description of behavior i am thinking 95% sure that its aptasia. I would just do one pep shrimp for now, and watch him. It's hit or miss with these guys but 3 in a 14g with fish and a bunch of snails and hermits and a few fish, I hope you can see that this a little tight. one shrimp will be really happy in there. Had a pep for a while and when I would clean the tank or add a new coral he would come out and clean my hand. Also the damsels will leave the shrimp alone. and the nudi's which I would still stear away from. I would not do any more fish in there either, and would tink about getting rid of that blue damsel. they get very aggresive. waterbottle trap works great. let me know if you need more info on that very very simple to do, and does not require you to take down all the rocks to catch him.

Well these 2 fish were living together in a 14g biocube at the pet store, that's why I bought them actually.. and it's actually his fins that are all tore up, she kicks his *** all time lol (I only call them boy and girl I really have no idea) and I never planned on putting any more fish in there anyway, so do you just mean aggressive towards the other fish? if so I'm not worried.. but if you mean something else.. ?

as for the little hairy thing.. I will try to get that out.. any suggestions?

The "hairy" thing you just posted a picture of on this page? If that's what you're referring to, leave it alone. It's just a feather-duster type creature.

Cute tank, I was thinking of getting a biocube that size, they are very nice to look at.

so this slimey green algae has now decided to take over.. I did the WC today (per usual on sat) scrubbed the sides with the tank cleaner and within.. 2hrs? it was covering EVERYTHING! my rock, my snails, the glass again.. omg it's icky! Ok so I think I must be hoping that the flow takes care of this.. so I ordered the koralia 2, along with 2 new flters for the biocube, and some phosban/phoslock.. that I will put into the tray in there.. anything else you can suggest? I have been considering the skimmer.. will this help considerably? I was told I didn't really need it if I was ritualistic on my weekly WC's and I am, I have 2 FW tanks that need it weekly too
