the contrast of bright green healthy plants against a black substrate cannot be achieved with any other colour.
its just not the same with the browns, whites, greys, blues etc.
once you go black, you never go back

While initially, I intended to use a black substrate, and went with SMS, now I'm using a mix of original Flourite with SMS. The SMS toned down the red and I've really come to enjoy what, I feel, looks like a more natural bottom.
I'm happy with the diluted red of the Flourite/SMS mix.
I hear you ... question - how "natural" of a look is the black substrate?

Is the versa top the "exact" same size as the top of the tank? In other words, is it "flush" all the way around?
I can't really tell from Vader's pics but it looks like it sets down inside the top trim - correct??
