150 Gallon Build Thread ... From the Start

Your work ethic is commendable. Fantastic job so far and to think the best is yet to come. ;)

A few last minute touch ups on the canopy. I brought all the fan wires to the top with one cord attached to the 2 ballast cords going down the back. Much easier to remove / replace the canopy. Note to those considering: the canopy is a "big, big" maintenance issue. Although it looks fantastic when done, it can sometimes be an "obstacle" when planting, filling, cleaning, etc.

Definitely 1000 cardinals!!!

I would go with a mated pair of wild uatuma blue or wild manacaparu blue discus, then let them do their thing, sell the little ones to pay off the whole thing!!! Maybe give a bunch of them to the person with the idea!! lol

Its done so now we wait to see what goes in it.
Do you have any no fishing or bubbling chest pieces?

A 1,000 might be a stretch (LOL), but there are definitely countless options. Thanks for checking it out!

Water!

First, the challenges. One was actually a "huge" pain in the ***!!!! After filling and firing up the first 2 Eheims, everything was cool. The real fun began with the 3rd 2217 (the one that runs the Co2, UV Sterilizer loop). The hermetically sealed (as it is billed) Co2 reactor was not sealed at all - hermetically or otherwise. My fault - when installing I took for granted that the top and bottom were sealed - wrong answer pony boy! When we started the loop, the reactor actually much more resembled a lawn sprinkler! Getting it turned off and drained was even more fun. For the time being, we removed the loop and ran the 2217 straight to the tank and installed a Co2 diffuser (the regulator is also having trouble - the low pressure won't stabilize).

Not sure at this point whether we will use the reactor, the sterilizer, or neither. The Mrs isn't the happiest of campers!

Anyway, all just part of the fun ...

Installing the wood sculptures and adding the substrate, which is a 50/50 mix of Flourite Black and Flourite Black Sand --
