150 Long!

don't take offense; I'm half-american myself.

tank cost $350 + tax, which came to almost $400 even. $48 for wood and hardware for the stand(so far - still needs a veneer.) $50ish for the electronically controlled titanium heater(delivered.) $0.60 (plus $30 shipping) for the Chinese bio-filter and I suspect about another $10 in PVC for the carbon stage I'm going to add to the output of the power head. All $$ in CAD funds.

This is what I'm up to at the moment. Going to get driftwood locally and treat it myself, and as for sand - brother in law used to work on the construction of a new golf course and has told me that the sand traps are full of specially ordered coarse screen black silica sand - sooooo a few buckets might get washed and find their way into the tank.

Lookin' great, bro!!! That is one sturdy stand--beautiful work. That'll be a tank to enjoy for sure. BTW, pix came out really well. Look forward to seeing in full with inhabitants and decor. :thm: :thm: :thm:

P/S Brian, I wasn't trying to rub it in!!! It actually sounds like something I'd do even now LOL!! sorry . . . . :o

I don't take offense, as I'm not American at all ;).

But that's a nice tank :). I'd like to have one, full of tiny fish :D.

I am told that golf course grass uses lots of chemicals to keep it going. To the level of being toxic (I was warned to never lick my golf clubs). So make sure that sand is well, well washed or your fish could glow in the dark!

I'm sorry for having to inquire but; you had to be warned not to lick your club?

No worries - this has already been taken into consideration. If I can get by the anticipation, it will likely be soaked overnight and rinsed everyday for several days before it makes it way into the tank.

Actually, until I was warned the thought never crossed my mind. Now that I know I can't...
