16 gal bowfront community, 20 gal goldfish

i find it, frankly, rude to assume that i know nothing about fishkeeping. i'm not posting in the newbie forum, thank you.

Maybe, but couldn't quoting the responses of posters with good intentions and pasting them in your sig line be construed as rude, too? In any case, I do like your tank.

Possibly, but I think it's a pretty effective deterrent as well. I've had so many people tell me that my tank is too small for my fish, over and over and over again, and it gets really old after a while. Like I said, anytime goldfish are mentioned, forum members have a fit reminding the poster that they need 40 gallons per goldfish, or they'll be stunted, etc. While that's a great idea for inexperienced fishkeepers or especially exotic fish, I think it's unnecessary to push the point so often. So it's not to be rude, but to remind people that I know what fish I'm keeping, I've done the research, thanks for the info but I already understand the needs of goldfish. I've never seen such an immediate and strong response as far as stocking except in the case of arowanas. Even oscars and knifefish don't cause so much discussion and warning.
Although, I do have Jessu to thank for pushing me to the point of doing some extra research about my flounder. So, I may have to swallow my words a bit, but as I said, I think it's a good idea in the case of exotic fish. I wasn't sure of the exact needs of the flounder, I was just going off of what I'd read about flounders in general. But goldfish? There are so many posts on here about goldfish. It's just a little much, that's all. Particularly because the rules specifically state that this is not a place to criticize stocking. So while I'm irritated, I'm not upset.
Anyway, thanks for the comment.

Thats a great pic. What type of cam do you use?

Those are some nice pictures- well done!

Snails! I ordered three apple snails from MrSnailz on Ebay, and I'm expecting them today, and I picked up 2 mystery snails from the LFS yesterday. I think that will be a pretty good cleanup crew for the 60 gallon. I love these guys! I really wish I had used snails before! Attachments this time, because I don't want to host them all elsewhere... The female bettas were very confused when I first introduced them, but now they don't even bat a... fin?
Don't they have lovely patterns on their bodies?

These are recent, taken today, of the 20.
As you can see, I changed the gravel to black at the last water change, to seed some algae and bacteria so when I put it in the 60 I'll speed things up a bit. I also put the black into the 16, so over half the gravel for the 60 will have already been seeded. I also attached the fluval 303 to the 20 gallon, so I can get a bacteria colony going in there. By the time I get the 60 up and ready to go, I should have the right ingredients for a nice quick cycle.

Upstart gives me the stare-down.

The lovely Shubunkin. No name yet, even though I've had her over two years. Just Shubunkin. I'm thinking something Japanese.

fish7di1.jpg

Isn't she just the prettiest American Shubunkin you've ever seen?

fish5no8.jpg

Her other side...

Girlfriend and boyfriend.

Napoleon has the loveliest lady, I must say. I see why he chases her so much. She's quite a catch.

Guarding his girl.

fish4gk9.jpg

In all his glory. He's been chasing Upstart quite a bit lately. Spring has sprung, and you can see the result on his fins and scales. He beats himself up over her.

The male betta. He doesn't have a name yet either, but I think he's one of the coolest male bettas I've ever had. He's gorgeous!

fish9ck3.jpg

You can see that even though he's a shortfin, that doesn't mean his fins aren't just as pretty as a longfin.

fish10ki0.jpg

His lovely girlfriend. They've lived together for about 2 years now, and I've never had any problem with aggressive behavior. He flares for her, and they swim around together, but they're the most peaceful betta couple I've ever seen.

The tank, in its current state. They'll have much more room in the 60, and I'm sure if they knew, they'd be looking forward to it as much as I am. They have plenty of swimming room in here, but it will be so much nicer to give them even more.
