16 gal bowfront community, 20 gal goldfish

Thank you all for your comments. And yes, i did get the 60.

It seems that goldfish are such a focal point for controversy. I have heard so many people insist that, for example, one goldfish in a 10 gallon tank will die, be stunted, develop terrible diseases, etc. Whereas, as long a tank appropriate for the fish's size is provided, there is no reason a young goldfish cannot thrive in a tank that would obviously be too small for an adult fish. I've researched the idea of "stunted" goldfish, and outside of a goldfish being kept in a bowl with filthy water and little food, everything I've read points to it being utter poppycock. Goldfish will continue to grow regardless of tank size, just like koi, just like trout, just like sharks.

i dont see how the 16gal is overstocked..the fish are small..they have lots of space...and are not massive waste producers...

the tank looks great flar, please do not get discouraged, this forum is a wonderful place

the goldfish look beautiful also, GREAT job with them!

Thank you all. I have done a bit of extra research and identified my flounder as Hypoclinemus mentalis, a true freshwater flounder from the Amazon.
As per: http://www.fishbase.org/summary/SpeciesSummary.php?id=57094
This fits into what I had thought, as I bought him from a non-chain LFS. So he isn't brackish, which makes sense since he's been doing quite well in my tropical freshwater tank. Most likely I'll move him to the 2.5gal when I get the 60 set up. At least until he grows a bit. He's so small, I really don't want to have him in with my enormous goldfish. Not with their gravel-digging tendencies.

Thank you for the comments. I'll post photos of the 60 once I have it set up.

Also, the neon tetras aren't actually neons. I forgot to mention this, as I had a school of true neons that perished in a chlorine spike after a post-heavy-rain water change. They are cardinal tetras, Paracheirodon axelrodi. And there are five.

great shots!

however, your neons..are neons..the red stripe on cardinals reaches from the base of the tail, to the gills, with neons, it stops in the mid section
