Really liking the scape so far! Well done! What other plants are you thinking about adding (if any)?

Thanks One. Honestly, I'm not sure. I'd like to add some more plants but they'd have to be able to tolerate very low light since it'll be a little while until I can bump up my wattage. I'm open to suggestions.

The tank will have clown loaches, so I'm also concerned with the loaches tearing up new plants before they can become established. Part of my reasoning for adding the baby java ferns is a test to see if the fish mess with them before I spend any $ on more plants. Does anyone have experience with clown loaches with plants?

Had 6 scissortail rasboras in QT. I added them a few hours ago. Pretty funny watching 6 rasboras cruise around in a big tank all by themselves.

Today's update...had some free time in the morning so I decided to herd some fish.

All stock from the 55 was successfully moved. The only sketchy moment was the 6"+ bala shark that jumped out of the tank while I was trying to corral him. I just beat the dog to him as he was flipping around the living room. Then, he jumped out of the bucket when I was trying to get him into his new home - again, seconds from being a dog treat. Frisky little bugger. Been about 14 hours since this happened and he seems to be no worse for wear. I also put the filter cartridge from my old filter into the HOB that came with the tank. Hoping I don't have a mini cycle; guess I'll be doing a few water changes this week until everything stabalizes.

Back to work tomorrow, so think I'll let everyone settle in their new home this week.

Still not sure what to do about plants...

Sorry if this is boring to everyone. Just have wanted to document past tank builds and never did. I'll stop soon enough...

Quick update on activity since Monday...and a few pics...

I'm happy to report that I've had no casualties as a result of Monday's move. The bala that did two stints flopping around the floor seems no worse for wear. I did a 10% water change on Tues evening and am going to do another 10% or so after I finish this post. I have a slight, whiteish haze to the water so I'm thinking I may have a small bacterial bloom.

The java fern I transplanted are still hanging in there, though it is obvious that they are getting nibbled on.

Also, I ducked out of work a little early today and hit my LFS. Picked up 3 more balas and 3 more clowns. They are in my QT (first 2 pics).

Nice fishies!

your aquascape is awesome

Thanks!

I'm happy with how it's shaping up so far. The loaches love all the nooks and crannies the rocks made.

The whole plant issue is still up in the air. Obviously need to secure that air hose that's floating about and want to replace to old Jager heater - it's just hard to hide.

Love the tank. Your lucky i dont have any room in my house to put it or you might wake up to find it gone lol. Love the hole setup. Great thread keep it commin.

Water clarity has improved dramatically since the last post. Here are a few pics from today.

Despite being tied on, someone keeps pulling the java fern from it anchors. Had to retie two in the last week. Been cold recently and the heaters are struggling to keep up. Maintaining at 75*, but need to get another heater soon.
