I don't know how I missed this. Your tank looks great! I love the rocks, loaches too.

I have java fern with only 40w over it & floating plants too. It grows very slow like that. IME the big leaves get ratty when moved. Are your loaches making holes? Mine don't bother it but I feed romaine & zucchini 2-3 times a week, other people say big clowns eat all plants.

How 'bout some new pics?

Thanks. Other then the plants not doing anything, I'm please with how it turned out.

I've noticed a few holes, but nothing major. As you noted, the large leaves have gotten a bit ratty since the move.

I'll get some pics up as soon as I can....may be a few days.

Managed to snap a few pics. My wife did get me new lighting as a b-day gift...it arrived early by the packaging gave it away so she let me open it early! :hearts:

I took the pic of the new lighting just after I set them up so a lot of the fish were a bit freaked from all the comotion. They came back out after things settled down.

As always, feedback is welcome.

Been a few weeks, wanted to jot a few notes and I have a stocking question.

Here is the updated stock below...am I getting close to capacity or do you think I still have room to add more stock??? I'm cognizant that the loaches and the other two balas have some growing to do, but I'm having a hard time judging. :feedback:

Stock:
8 clown loach
4 rainbow bosemani
4 emerald rainbow
6 turqoise rainbow
3 bala sharks (1 large, 2 juvinile)
6 scissortail rasbora
3 bristlenose pleco
2 ottos
1 zebra danio

6 Western rainbows in QT

I had a bit of an algae outbreak after upgraing the lighting. The Bristlenose plecs have done a good job of cleaning it up, but still have some work to do. Had to really keep up on H2O changes since the plecs are pooping like mad with all the algae eating.

Java ferns are starting to show signs of new growth since the lighting was upgraded so that is promising

Haven't seen the 2 ottos since the day I put them in the tank....assuming they are still alive.

Clown loaches will grow to about 12" full grown so tehy will probably max out the bio for that tank. It may take years to get that big but they will get there.

I like it!!!!

lookin good..btw nice set up +1 for you sir:iagree:

Yup, I'm aware. My thinking is that while I don't want to max out the capacity now, I certainly can bring it to ~75% capacity while my eventually-big-fish-are-little. There will be some natural attrition over the years so as the loaches and balas grow, I'll simple not replace any losses I may have in the smaller, shorter lived fish to stay a year or two ahead of max stock.

Speaking of losses, unfortunately I did lose one of the turqouise rainbows and one of the bristlenose plecs. While the rainbow that died never showed any signs of illness he just never seemed right. I beleive the plec had sustained an injury as he had what looked like a large wound on his back between his dorsal fin and his tail. He had been hiding a lot so I could never get a good look at him.

Everyone else is doing fine. The three new clowns I added a week ago had been shy/hiding, but by last night they were out and about doing their loachy thing. Still not quite as engaging as the other 5, but they are moving in the right direction.

Thanks for the compliments...still accepting feedback on my stocking question.

nice

oto's hide really well so they may still be in the tank.
