2 1/2 gallon Stock?

since i have two other tanks that are well established with the same two filters that im going to use on the 2.5 gallon tank, can i take filter media out and put it in the new filter and tank?? thats what i plan on doing, how long will that take to cycle enough to put shrimp in? im going to start with snails along with the established filter media to help with the cycle
 
I have a long fin betta and rcs in my 5.5. The betta is a mean bugger I can't put any fish in there but the shrimp are just too fast for him. I see him stalk and try but the rcs are just too slinky, it's so funny, I would have thought the ity bity baby shrimp would get eaten but nope they are even faster in most cases.

I for one think you can get away with a betta and a small colony of rcs in a 2.5 just be a little light on feeding.

haha niceeee..i might eventually try a betta but not 100% sure yet
