i would say one male betta and a snail, 2 male endlers (basically dwarf guppies), a few shrimp, or dwarf frog. I'm not positive, but I also think you can get a feeder comet or two.

that seems like a lot of fish for this baby tank. i will only be able to do water changes 1x per week. are you sure the numbers are ok?

I'd go with just a betta. 2.5 tanks are pretty small. In my 3g, I have just a Crowntail Betta and he rules the tank.
