First I was cleaning my cichlid tank earlier this week and discovered a fourth fry in the tank. He must have been hiding in the substrate or in a hole in the lime stone when I removed all the other fish. I sold/traded all my fish to switch to discus and just kept a trio of sexed juvies that I plan to put in a 60 gallon tank eventually for breeding. Well last night I was cleaning the tank and the male started showing his colors (tough guy :D ) as I looked a bit closer I realized I kept the wrong trio!! I meant to keep a bag with 3 C. Afra in it. And I sold a bag to a LFS with a trio of pseudotropheus zebra in it. Well I must have mixed the bags up somehow and I kept the zebras! It is actually a good thing though, the tank they are in was the zebra fry tank so the fry that appeared is a zebra too.

How is the big tank doing?

As far as I can tell it is 100%. I am tinkering with the ph (I know, I know), and should be all set for the auction saturday.

Water details:

temp 79 (because the room behind the tank is vented to outside the temp fluctuates a few degrees each way when it gets cold/hot out) normally 82.
ph 7
kh ~4
dh 5 (I think)
nh3 0
no2 0

I have been doing daily 5% water changes and everyone except the betta are spawning all over the place! Can't see eggs yet but the corys are combing the underside of the leaves and the base of the plants 24-7.

Happy cories are a good thing! the little temp dips probably really encourage them, as well. Poor betta--he's probably wondering why he doesn't get a girlfriend or two@ :D

Well I am back to 3 fish. :( The male looks like he put on about 0.5 grams. :sad

Oh, the male zebra? Not good. I've a tank of brichardi that are pairing up right now--I'm hoping they'll behave long enough for me to move out the few other fish in with them. The biggest one isn't even 2.5 inches yet! Vile tempered buggers.
