20 long reef build

You sure about that Ca reading? You may want to verify and also check alkalinity and magnesium. How often are you doing WCs and what kind of salt?

I'm pretty sure. Isn't kh Alk? I do not have a mg test kit yet. 2x weekly io reef crystal salt.

My bad, didn't see the alk reading. RC mixes up pretty high for me in terms of Ca. Just surprised yours drops below 400 every 2 weeks since your tank isn't stocked very much yet.

lol i am doing 5 gallon water changes 8 times a month, (twice a week) maybe its because i use tap. should i add buffers for Ca

No, if anything get some Ca supplement and bump it up. I would be susect of your test results. See if your LFS can test your Mg. Also verify your SG is 1.025. Might be worthwhile to test with another refractometer.

I will do. I just had my refractormeader calibration fluid calibrated and the meter both spot on the money

ok LFS tested ca and it was 360, they were out of the MG test. but they did everything else, and it was the same as my test. what kind of Ca supplement would you recommend

Problem here is each of the 3 elements are tied to each other. It really isn't possible to have a CA drop from 400 down to 360 without also having 2x as much alkalinity drop and 1/2 magnesium. It works/used up in a 3:2:1 ratio, 3 parts alkalinity, 2 parts calcium, and 1 part magnesium. So simply dosing calcium without keeping the other 2 in check will just cause way more problems than it fixes.
