Got a surprise yesterday evening when I came home and went to feed the fish: I found this little guy dashing out for food -
Where there were five platys, there are now six.
From his size and development I'd say he was a few days old. And I've never known a livebearer to give birth to just one, so, since I couldn't find any others, I suspect his litter-mates got eaten...
As you can see from the video, he still instinctively hides in the plants. He has plenty of room and food, however, so I bet he'll soon be swimming in the open and reaching full-size.
Guess I should pass out cigars.
